Our Heroes and Hero Worship

Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh died in a chopper crash. The entire nation is shocked and the state has been swamped by tears of its subject. But this was not enough to give real tribute to this great leader and many local citizens committed suicide and many others were so overwhelmed by the news that they died of cardiac arrest. Very few leaders are so lucky in a nation like India, where the most heartbreaking events are forgotten easily.

But friends, isn’t it too much for us to shed tears and lay down life for any political leader? He was great and there is no second-thought; but then we had also lost greater leaders and heroes in the past – Mahatma, Nehru, Sardar, Netaji, Indira Gandhi and the list is endless. Of late, we lost many heroes of Indian Air Force; they all died of mechanical faults in fighter planes MIG 21 (Flying Coffin). And we didn’t mourn over the loss of those courageous souls who were our Protectors.

This is the time to show our real character. Stop mourning and do something to complete the dreams of departed soul and that would be the real tribute to our leader.
